Wow! Koik, I hope your dear hubby improves so that he can accompany you to Lourdes. Do you know that you are an inspiration to all of us on this forum? Your faith and fortitude, hopefulness and strength are truly amazing. I'll say a prayer to St. Bernadette for YOUR miracle!

Hugs -- Cathy

Koik,

I sure hope you can make the journey to Lourdes. I told my husband, when he was first diagnosed, that I'd take him to Lourdes if need be. It was impossible for us as time went on, but we did get a mass card from there from a family member. God speed on this Koik -- we all continue to pray for you and your husband.

Hugs,
PBJ

Prunes/plums/figs........Forlax 2x3 per day....plenty of fluid

His stomach is hard and he is in pain and well blocked.....any suggestions most welcome, I am pulling my hair out! Rolling Eyes Koik

Koik, I will have your back then... just do not run over me Wink.

I just had a colonoscopy which required me to drink 4 liters of Trilyte... I had no problems emptying my bowels but I don't recommend that method to anyone. Unfortunately, there is not a good method for your husband. A lot of people who have to stay in bed all the time get constipated. If he could get up and walk a little, that might help. But i know that is not likely. I am truly very sorry that he is in such pain. Keep pushing forward (not backwards) trying to find a solution that works.

Thanks...Um difficult to know what to give him.

The last time he emptied his bowels was when he was in the main hospital 2nd July.... Where he has started eating, his stomach is full, I stopped food yesterday.
Every time I told someone they said its OK and left it for the next doctor or hospital appointment, now it has come to this!
Anyhow the visiting doctor comes today and I hope she has a good solution to this problem.

Unfortunately he is not quite standing, so the quick brisk walk around the village wont work yet but I do have running shoes ready just in case. Rolling Eyes
God is Bless, Koik

I have this iin my paperwork from MD Anderson...symptoms for a high impaction...

no bowel movement in 5 days
eating very little/no appetite
nausea after eating

recipe for enema

8 oz of warm water
3 oz of powdered milk
4.5 oz of molasses

Put the water and powdered milk in a jar. Close the jar, and shake it until
it looks mixed. Add molasses. Shake the jar again until the mixture appears to have and even color throughout. Pour the mixture into an enema bag. Gently introduce the tube into the rectum about 12 inches. Do not push beyond resistance. Release the solution high in the colon. Repeat every 6 hours until you no longer expel formed stool.

For a low impaction symptoms are

discomfort with sitting cause you feel like you are sitting on something
cramping in abdomen
feeling like you need to go to bathroom but unable to expel stool
diarrhea leaking around the impaction...

call for professional help
do not drink hot liquid or eat a big meal.....

Koik, I hope you and your husband had a great weekend. I thought about you this morning in church and said a prayer of you.

Oh Thank you Jim, I needed that prayer and to you too Zinger for remembering me....
I am off on the downward slope again.. In fact he looks as if he has been hit with a baseball bat! His lip looks swollen and bruised but I think its because of all that wiping lips after drinks and deserts. (not kissing unfortunately) and his eye looks swollen and cheek bone looks puffy? Perhaps the fluid?
He is having a problem drinking and eating AGAIN! There is no point kidding myself unless I get that bed with some roller skates we wont be getting him to Lourdes...He has been down again for the last 3 days.
Friday he had the palliative nurse and assistant at the same time as the doctor and his 2 x a day visiting nurse.
I wondered why the meeting was arranged altogether, around his bed on Friday...Did they know something I didn't and they are not telling?
Friday night..Wow some strange breathing noises we had and then some whaling..then back on the oxygen and then he had terrible pain so the ambulance was called for a duty doctor..
That was the beginning of my week-end and we are still going..
So I am on the depressive side of life again, but that is part of my normality nowadays, but good to know I am not forgotten by you..
God Bless and thanks again for coming in..
Koik

Koik, I am so sorry you are having a hard time again. Really, the people treating him shouldn't have a meeting and not keep you informed. Do you have anyone with fluent French who could help you to confront them and get an explanation?

Awww Koik, I'm sorry to hear things are on the slide again my friend. I continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. This is just too darn hard for one person to handle. ((((((((Koik)))))))))

Just keep on keeping on and we're all here because you have inspired so many here with a beautiful story of love between you and your dear husband.

Please feel our arms around you and our hands holding yours.

Check back and let us know how he and you are doing.

God bless,
PBJ

Koik, I wish I had other words to say. This is a terrible roller coaster ride you are on... one that can in no way be thought of as "fun". You have become a very important member of this community and there are a lot of use praying for you. Truly, I am sorry that your trip to Lourdes sounds like it will not happen. Has your priest come by to anoint your husband? You know that since Vatican II it is no longer the anointing of the dieing but the anointing of the sick? Even though a lot of people think of religion as a crutch, I am not one of them. Religious rituals and rights are very important ways that we connect to our Higher Power.

May God bless you and keep you.

Hi
Updating the roller-coaster.......

Palliative care nurses came in, doctor passes tomorrow...he is the same. Mainly he sleeps or just stares expressionless. He sometimes whales in his sleep or half sleep and this breaks my heart because I don't know if he is crying or he is in pain. I am so FED-UP! I have tried everything like all of us trying to keep our loved ones alive, but looking at him, he is not he!
I am so dam selfish I push him on for another day.
Although he talks mumble sometimes and very low, I catch little words and I feel something alive with hope again.. But! really what hope is there here..He wants to live and I want him with me but this is not to happen and he is delaying his death I think for me..

I would like to introduce my husband, his name is Daniel. He is a very proud man, strong in character and sweet in nature. I can honestly say I couldn't of wished for a better husband. He has taught me so much and when this is all over I have no idea what I will do. I am scared but I know I have to let go as this is cruel what he is going through and I know he didn't want to suffer like this..

Thank you for reading my post and letting me vent my feelings and anger once again.. God Bless you all, Koik

Poor Daniel - well and truly in the lions' den.

I do so feel your pain, Koik, and am thinking of you all the time. This is such an awful situation.
