Well I'm out of the hospital again. I had 2 treatments of radiation so far and 1 of chemo. I will be getting radiation every week day for a total of 39 treatments. I get 6 chemo treatments, 3 are big dose (like the one i just had) and 3 are small dose, which i do in the clinic without being admitted overnite. The reason for the overnite is that the drugs i am receiving require 4 hours of hydation before and 8 hours after administering the drugs.
So far only very minor side effects, the most noticeable is very bad taste in mouth. But all the nurses want me so it's all good

Hi Bill, I just got to the forum and it is almost dinner time. I will try to get back later and update myself thru this topic. WOW! It got long. I have been thinking about you and wondering. Last I knew was when they took you to surgery and didn't do it.
I am glad to read your post. You are still hanging in there. I am going to post an update about my husband. Doesn't say too much but explains my absense. He is having a rough road on the recovery. It is workable just very slow.
Best of luck to you and your wife, and I have had you in my thoughts and my prayers. _________________ Mary

Bill,
It's great to see your fighting spirit! I'm sure the nurses all love you -- behave yourself!
Cardboard --- that's what my husband said food tasted like to him. LOL He ate it anyway. If it's a metallic taste in your mouth, I've heard that eating with plastic silverware helps a bit.
Good luck and keep on keeping on.

Hi again Bill. A good attitude goes a long way with fighting this disease. Glad to read your posts.
My husband started treatments the end of February and had surgery mid May. He is only now starting to taste some things. Just this week. He just said nothing had any taste. No description of it. Don't give up if that part continues for some time yet.
Joe is coming along but it is a slow road. Joe had his chemo where he also sees his oncology doctor. He had one real special nurse and I think she really must have what it takes to help people get thru this awful mess. I know it helped him. She could put a smile on his face.
Best of luck. _________________ Mary

Hey Bill,
My father is going though surgery in two days. Reading your story really helped me being optimistic with it all. I wish you all the time and good luck with the nurses !!!

Hello all! Well had second chemo treatment Tuesday (Was just the veneralbine) and am continuing with radiation. The doctor is very concerned over my weight loss. I am trying to make myself eat more this coming week so he won't stop my treatments. Besides the weight loss I am feeling basically ok, just tired a lot and bloated for some reason. I go back in the VA Hospital on the 16th for the full chemo treatment again. Then will be half way through the chemo I hope. I hope the 4th finds all of you well and in great spirits to celebrate this wonderful country we have the priveledge of living in (For those of you not Americans have a beer anyways). Thanks for all the replies and stronger faith to all of you.
Bikini season is now officially open.

Bill,
Happy Independence Day to you too! Hopefully you will be able to stuff yourself on goodies over the holiday and put some of that weight back on. Glad to hear you made it through the second treatment.
