I have been suffering from Neuropathy. I finished my Chemo over a month ago.

I found out it can take 9 or more months for it to go away. I also found out that complex Vitamin B can help.

I keep dropping things and I have a hard time picking up things because my fingers are so numb. Buttoning shirts can be a chore. Writing with a pen is challenging.

Oh REB, I hear you. My neuropathy was caused by Vincristine back when I was first diagnosed. My big toes are still numb which contributed to my balance problems. I do have some right sided weakness but it was caused by surgery when my cancer recurred in 2005. I know about dropping things all the time, difficulty with buttons, and basically with any task that requires good fine motor skills. I had some physical therapy and continue some of those exercises to help with fine motor skills... things like putting nuts on and off of bolts, hand writing, and putting marbles in a hole in a jar lid. I do not know if these are helping me any, but I have to try.

The bottom of my feet are numb, but that doesn't bother me too much. However, anything to do with my hands becomes a chore. Typing on a computer is even challenging.

I need to work on my car, but I don't see it happening until this goes away. Or maybe I can retrain my fingers with the exercises you suggested.

I type at about 10 words per minute and even then have to back up and retype due to errors in typing... not to mention spelling mistakes Laughing. Car work is out of the question. There is no way that my fingers have enough dexterity to reach under and behind something to unscrew a nut Shocked.

Hey guys - which chemo drug causes this reaction?

I have six months of it coming up - and my job requires me responding to all sorts of e-mail - over 200 on a good day......you are making me worried!

Is it the folfox?

FOLFox is three drugs- FU (5 Flurouracil) and leucovorin, oxaliplatin. It's the Oxaliplatin that causes this.
