Hello all.. Im here writing about my mother.

For some time now shes been having problems with her stomach. She went to a specialist to do a test , not sure the name but I think it was this one "Gastric Emptying Study" she had to eat an egg sandwhich with something inside of it so they can see how slow/fast the food goes through. Well yesterday at the family doctors , the doctor said that it's bad , that it took way too long for the food to go down. She has to have another test on the 29th. The one with the camera going in the stomach. ...also I guess I should mention not too long ago, she had a stomach infection she was treated for with antibiotics. Not sure if this is related to whats going on now or not. But anyways was just wondering, what are some of the possibities this could be?? We are completely clueless. We thought maybe ulcers? but she doesnt have pain and thats something common right? She has a lot of nausea, but no severe pain.
So Im assuming this is some kind of obstruction right? Something must be in the way .. any idea would be greatly appreciated as I know nothing of this at all..

the only other thing I can think of , is that her grandfather died of stomach cancer.

algrose, I am very sorry about your mother's health concerns. No one here can tell you what is causing her symptoms. It could be a lot of things. It does sound like she has enough reason to be concerned about cancer and her medical team will keep that in mind. Nevertheless, the odds are better that the symptoms are caused by something more benign and hopefully easier to treat.

Other than her grandfather, have other members of your family had stomach cancer?

You and your mother are in my thoughts and prayers.

thanks for your reply =) I guess were just really anxious to see what happens next. And I'm the type that needs to read about everything , I feel better being educated on anything medical really.

And no, he is the only one that we know of with it. .. I dont know any history on my fathers side since he was adopted and have no contact with him.

No, it still does not mean that your mother has cancer. Often, they do take more than just one sample. I feel for you because I know that the next three weeks will be filled with anxiety.

You and your mother continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
