Every morning I woke up around 5am from the pain on an small accute location on my back. The pain doesn't feel muscle-related. I'm concerned that if the pain is coming from the rear of the lung.

My grand mother passed away due to lung cancer. She never smoked, but suffered from second-hand smoking as my grand father was a heavy smoker. I vaguely remember she had similar symptoms as what I'm having now. I know that coughing and breathelessness are the main symptoms of lung cancer, but when my grand mother was diagnosed with it, she never had these symptoms.

I went to see a doctor recently and he couldn't discover anything, so he referred me to do a number of scans next week.

Could this accute pain on my upper back (rear of my lung) be a symptom of lung cancer? I'm very concerned because my husband is a smoker, and I'm afraid that history will repeat itself...

Please help!

Thanks for posting. Bone pain can be a sign of cancer that has spread to bone. But I think it is highly unlikely that is the case. Regardless, you seem to be having good medical attention. The scans might be able to establish the diagnosis..

good luck
