I remember reading about Johanna Budwig who was a German Biochemist. Actually, I'm not sure if she is still alive or not.

The interesting thing about Johana is that she recognized the role of essential fats in preventing cancer way back in the 1950's.

She believed she was getting great success and created a little recipe
involves essential fats and cottage cheese that survives in the alternative
communities today.

I really liked reading about her.

Of course, I would appeal to ones common sense to always seek medical care when encountering any health problems.

Personally, I would follow medical advice and explore nutritional things that would support my body through the process of fighting the cancer, and it would be really nice to let my physician know what I was doing so I didn't get in his/her way.

I just thought what I read about Johanna was great stuff.

I think Johanna is still alive. I believe she is in her 90's and still working.
I went to a very interesting seminar at the end of last year given by Dr Patricia Kane, a health researcher and clinician, who knows an awful lot about fatty acids.

She advises against taking one oil such as flax as used by Budwig for any length of time as the cell membranes can become unbalanced in the ratios of fatty acids.In fact she said that although Johanna Budwig got good results initially many patients did not do well after 3 months.

Kane has found that many people taking, for example, Omega 3 oils because they have been promoted recently have low omega 6 oils in the cells membranes.

The key is getting the right balance of essential fats - not taking one oil ro the exclusion of others.

I know that flax oil is used in many alternative cancer therapies but they mosly agree that it should not be taken for longer than 2 years.

The only way to find out what essential fatty acids you do have in your cells is to have a red cell analysis done. But these are very expensive.

By the way I'm not promoting anything here. Just information I thought might be useful.

Fish oil has only omega 3 fatty acids in it and that's all. However flax oil has all 3 essential fatty acids in it plus a host of antioxidants. Last October I was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and had a cat-scan that showed that my tumor was 7.8 centimeters but still contained within the kidney envelope. I saw a cancer specialist in November who arranged for me to have another scan done, this time a MRI was done and my tumor had shrunk to 6.5 centimeters in one month. In October when I was first was told of my tumor I got on the internet and learned of Dr. Bud wig's diet witch included flaxseed oil and cottage and I have been taking it ever scenes then, which would explain my tumor shrinkage. I saw my Dr. on the second of this month. Her jaw dropped when she saw the latest results of my blood work. You would never have know I have cancer. Fact is I don't know if I still have it or not, All I know is that I have an abundance of energy, my immune system is A-1, and I haven't felt this good sense I was a teenager and I am 55 years old now. Flaxseed oil and cottage cheese isn't the only thing you have to do though. Diet is very important too. I also take mega doses of Vitamin E, C, and B complex. It certainly has worked for me, and I would advise anyone who has cancer to use it, you don't have anything to loose, and a lot to gain- your life back. -The Duck- P.S. Recent studies in England has shown that a rare form of Vitamin E only found in pecans has shrunk certain kinds of cancer, and has completely eliminated other forms. 6 medium size pecans per day are eaten for good results.
