Hi Emma. I am very sorry about your Barrett's Esophagus. Barrett's is bad enough Shocked but less than 10% of those with Barrett's go on to have Esophageal Cancer. I am not sure if there is any family link with EC. Has your medical team told you of any options for treatment of the BE yet?

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

i dont even know if i have barratts yet i find oyt tuesday but i dont hink they will be wrong as barratts is spotted by a colour change in the cells i hope there wrong god this is driving me insane with worry i dont think you can cure barratts but you can change your eating habbits and stop smoking to help reduce the devolopment of ec...i have been unwell for 2 years now pains in stomache ,dizziness, fatigue, aching muscles, i could go on writing for ever but there is simply no point i guess till i find out my results i just hope it isnt bad for me ,thank you for response hun .do you know anything about barratts hun as you mention it is bad enough???

Hello,
I wanted to respond yesterday to you but had to wait to get registered. My husband has Barrett's and a hiatal hernia found during his first endoscopy. Biopies were negative but the week was a long wait. He actually had a 6-month follow up this morning with another endoscopy to check the Barrett's again. It looked the same but they took biopies again. If those results come back negative, he won't follow up for about two years. It's going to take another week to know for sure, but to stay positive (and sane) while we wait, we hang onto the percentages of low incidences of it being cancer. Long-term acid from GERD did the damage.

I know it's scary but the positive is the percentages and if it is pylori causing the stomach problems, it can be treated. Hang in there, choose to be strong and positive until you know differently, you and you kids will benefit from that. Good luck tomorrow, my prayers are with you.
