I have just had some more results but all I understood was my paraprotein is now 29.5 and my IGg is 37. Can anyone explain the importance of the papaprotein levels and at what level will I be classed as having MM. I am currently smoldering MM ,my bone marrow is 25% plasma with a small amount of myeloma cells seen.

Hi Jane. I cannot answer specifically your question. All that I know is that paraprotein and IgG are used to monitor MM. I think the trend is most important. Are you saying that their levels have gone up? If so, that is not a good sign. At what level does it take to signal that you have MM I do not know. Maybe someone else can help.

Thanks for the reply, my level of paraprotein have been steadily rising. In 2005 my paraprotein was 13 now its 29.5. My IGg has dropped a little from 44.8 (4480) to 37 (3700). I don't know what to make of it all. My Plasma in my marrow was 13% in 2007 and is now 25% so that is rising and as I say some myeloma cells have been seen on the slides. Anyone with any info and advice ?? Thanks
