hi, i am from Turkey and very confused. my dad is primary stomach cancer and he got gastrectomy 1,5 years ago. 3 months ago he felt pain around liver and the doc get him into operation. they did nothing in operation since the cancer had metastasis in liver. he doesnt know about it, we said that he feels unbearable pain because of the percutan drenage tube to make flow the water ballast. he gets contramal (tramadol) 50 twice a day. it works most of the time and he is nor willing to take it since it makes him sleep all the time. we dont know how much time it will take; i mean, i asked the docs about the process (whether he will have coma, and when he will pass away) but they said nothing. when the liver was out of use, is death immediate? i think his liver, 2 of 3 was out of use already.

Hi Waycell,

I am truly very sorry about your father's cancer. It does sound like he might be getting close do death but I cannot really say that it is immanent. It really depends on his liver function. Once his liver totally stops functioning, toxins will build up in his system and most likely he will go into a comma-like state... sleeping more and more... until his body just shuts down.

You and your father are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us informed.

thank you very much Jim,

it is very hard to deal with cancer in Turkey and quite expensive, but the worse thing is that the docs are quite speecless to inform.
