Thank you so much for this forum. I was diagnosed with malignant
breast cancer in June 2003. I had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes
removed in July. I then had chemo, and radiation. Now I am on
Tamoixfen. I am having horrible side effects with it. Get terrible
mood swings and depression. No one feels I should be changed
to another drug. They all tell me the same thing. Tamoxifen has
been tried and true and around a long long time.

Now I have phylebitis. The doctor is very suspicious that it came
from the results of the tamoxifen.

I would love to hear from other people.

Thank you in advance.

Hello

It is not easy to be able to correlate a drug with the development of signs and symptoms. Your phlebitis might be from the tamoxifen, but I can not say for sure, as the best person to evaluate this is really your doctor who knows you well. Phlebitis is indeed a possible side-effect of tamoxifen.

regards
Leo

Hello:

I have been on Tamoxifen for 2 1/2 months. The only side effects that I have right now is the fatigue, mood swings and joint/muscle pain. I've recently been diagnosed with limited scleroderma so I don't know if this is the scleroderma or Tamoxifen that is affecting me.

As far as the phlebitis, I do recall that was one of side effects of Tamoxifen. Have you talked to your doctor about putting you on Effexor for the mood swings/depression? I've been taking Effexor for years and my doctor increased the dosage after my oncologist put me on Tamoxifen. The Effexor has definitely helped me to avoid the extreme mood swings/depression, hot flushes, etc.

Gentle hugs to you,
Cathy
