Although I have owned fish for most of my adult life, I never named and and do not currently own any because I do not have a good location for the aquarium.
The last pet I had a dog, faithful companion and best friend, named Balto. I had to give him away shortly after I moved in with Dad . He was a Siberian Husky and needed a place outside to live. I tried keeping him indoors but he kept eating remote controls. The last straw for Dad was when Balto ate Dad's computer keyboard He used to stay by my side all the time and slept in the room with me . _________________ Jim

New Theme :
A Story of a bad or terrifying moment.....
Everyone knows mine, Car... So another, ummm. ok.
One summer night, It was stinking hot- not a breeze to be had. All windows open all fans on. I was so hot. I got up for a drink and splash of cold water.
I went to the bathroom, kept the lights off. (i had all the blinds up and didn't want the neighbours to have a fright). cupped my hands under the tap, ran the cold water. Matt had brushed his teeth after me that night and a massive chunk of tooth paste was in the sink. So while grummbling and telling him off under my breath, i used my hand to scrub it down with water.
IT MOVED ! It was soft, big, hairy and black. I screemed. By this time this dark shadow in the sink had crawled up my hand. I've got the light on- screeming like a murder is happening- preferbly it's. I fling my hand and this massive spider hits the wall and falls in the bath.
By this time, my neighbour has all it's lights on- (lucky it was my brother) and matt had ran into the bathroom naked, half asleep. - would have been funny- if i wasn't trying to climb the sink.
Anyway- it was a harmless spider (more like a small cat ) about the size of a bread plate. But harmless.... to be honest i didn't care as long as it was dead... Matt picks this spider up in a dust pan and decides to put it out on the front step.
Sooo, the rest of the night, not only had i scrubbed my bathroom. I had pulled the shoe box in from outside, shut the windows and sprayed surface spray on every window and door crack. The whole time rubbing my hand and shivering in horror......
Ok now for someone else- _________________ Thinking of you Inica

ok another- since no one else is foing it....
When i first got my car licence- around 17 yrs of age. I bought my first car- The first day i had it. That morning foggy- I left my lights on and killed the battery- Had to get dad to come jump it- that wasn't so bad, But at the time i was taking some friends to luch...
Then the same day After work- i backed out and hit the headlight of a NEW expenisve car- smashed the headlights in it. (later found out it was a new BMW)
So what did I do?
I looked around and took off Was scared to death.... A week later the car was back in the same lot. I went up and left a note, saying sorry- but of course, didn't leave a name or number.....
Well, i was on first year apprentice wages...Plus later found out it was a clients company car and cost her nothing to fix...but still felt bad in long time. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Inica, you might regret starting this theme. I cannot tell all of the story here because every time I try to tell it I end up crying.
Back in 1979, my then wife and I became pregnant with our first child. We lived 14 hours away from our nearest relatives... her parents. When she went for her first ultrasound and 5 months, the technician doing the test was very talkative... saying how large the baby looked, maybe it was twins, etc. Then she became very quiet, moved my wife around to try to get a better view, and told us that she had to go ask the doctor to come look for her. The doctor came in and looked, and looked, and looked. Finally, he told us that he was unable to see the top of our baby's head. He told use that our baby was anencephalic. My mind raced through my medical language vocabulary: an=no, en=in, cephal=head, ic=condition. "Your baby doesn't have a brain!!" The words ecode through my brain but did not come out. I barely heard anything else. The doctor said something about terminating the pregnancy but that we needed to thing about that before making a decision and to come back in a week for him to check again and for us to make a decision.
When we got back home, I immediately went to my medical dictionary to see if my understanding was right. Unfortunately, it was. I told my wife and we each went to different rooms and cried uncontrollably.
My wife called her parents and they immediately set off to come to our house. My parents still lived in Brazil. When I called them and my mother answered the phone, all I could say was: "Mom". I started to cry just as I am now. My mother recognized my voice just from that one word. She kept asking if there was something wrong but I could not answer. Finally, I handed the phone to my wife and she told her what happened.
After the worst week of my life, we went back to the doctor who confirmed his previous diagnosis and scheduled us for the procedure the very next day.
That was almost 29 years ago and it still hurts. I celebrate her birthday every year... to the point of buying her a birthday card. _________________ Jim

After my first divorce, I "fell in love" with my second wife, gave up a great job to move 6 hours away in order to marry my second wife. I had a job as a counselor but the city as small and my business turned south. My second wife could not understand why the successful and well respected man (me) she had married could not just start over in a community that did not have any openings. Soon (within two years) my second wife lost her job so there we were with very little income and few options. Marrying my second wife was not the mistake. My mistake was moving away from my children, great job, and community where I had a lot of good friends and was well respected. _________________ Jim

OK, here is one that will not make you cry unless you laugh too hard. Sunday at 2am most of the US went from daylight savings time to standard time. This means that most people in the US turned there watches and clocks forward one hour (2am became 3am). I say "most" because there is at least one state that does not like to "play nice" with the others. But then there are people like me who do not have a clue that the time change is so early this year. So, I did not know to change my watch and clocks. Oblivious to any change, I lived on until my daughter came for a visit on Wednesday. She said she needed to feed the baby at around 11am so when she got up to go feed him at 9:45 I told her that she was feeding him earlier than she had said. She looked at me and said: "Dad, it is already 10:45 so it is not that early." After looking at all the clocks in the house and all said 9:45 she said: "But your computer should have the right time." She want over to it and it also said 9:45!! I had noticed something wrong with my computer on Monday... it seemed to be off by one hour so I set it to the "right" time .
Good thing I did not have a doctor's appointment or I might have been on time (doctors seem to always have a different time on their watches). _________________ Jim
