lI had a history of over 15 years of not being able to empty my bladder, yet when I came down with prostate cancer 'Gleason scale 6, I was advise to have the seeds done. On Oct 5 07, 132 seeds were inplanted. My old problem of frequent voiding with little volume became a nightmare of voiding over 24 times in 24 hours around the clock and the bladder spasms are relentless. After 3 month I got another Dr. to take a look and he advised the the seeds were not the correct procedure of me with my history, and that I now have a lot of scarring in my bladder and a dome at the top of my prostate at the neck of the bladder. It's too soon to do any other procedures but, to reduce the frequency and spasms I should self catheter myself 4 to 5 times a day. Once I get the hang of it, I will just continue and forget about any other procedures. I'm 5 weeks into it and the sensitiviy of the catheter is getting worst by the day. And I try to go 5 or 6 hours in between. The last couple hours are hell with spasms, any info out there on what I can expect going forward?

Hi Gringo,

I'd post this in the prostate cancer forum and you may get more knowledgeable replies.

I am sorry for your troubles.

Gringo, I moved your post to the Prostate cancer forum since you will receive more replies from members who have gone through the same problems.

I am very sorry about your cancer. I am sorry that I do not have any suggestions for your self cathetering problems. The only thing I can suggest is that you should make sure your medical team knows about any problems you have.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Turns out I had a severe urinary infection. After 5 days of antibioxic the spasms and the burning disappeared. The sensitivity was greatly reduced and the time between catheterizing extended to 5 to 6 hours with the last hour having to void 2 or 3 times with little urine to 1 oz at a time with no discomforts. The sensitivity moves around in the urethra From time to time, and my Urologist says that's normal.
I had 4 good days as stated above but, yesterday I took a little set back.
Today I seem to be OK and I hope I continue on this path. My Urologist is suggesting that I consider the Laser Treatment to open up my channel but, after having the Seeds done He tells me the chances of incontinence is increased to 10%. I am afraid, due to the fact that all and any side effects that could happen have happened to me.
Any comments appreciated.
