should I get a second opinion?

Hi all:)
Last saturday,I found a lump in my right axilla.It was about 1-1.5 cm.I got it checked by the family doctor and he said its nothing..I told him to recheck as I do feel something.He sent me for an ultrasound.They found many enlarged lymph nodes,the largest being 1.7 cm.I was immediately sent for a CT scan.We anxiously waited for the doctor to tell us what were the results.The doctor finally called us and talked to us on the speaker phone(yes on the speaker phone:)...He told me that they did an axillary,chest,abdominal and chest CT scan and everything is normal except for the right axilla that has some lymph nodes enlarged.The largest one is very benign looking ,having some fatty material in it.He has given me a 3 month period and they will repeat the CT after 3 months.I talked to one of my relatives who is an oro-facio-maxillary surgeon.He asked us to take the reports to an oncologist as I do have a family history of breast cancer.My father's sister was diagnosed at the age of 29 and died of it.My breast ultrasound is normal.CT is normal.I never had a mammo.Breast exam is normal.
My question is whom should I go to?An oncologist,my obgyn or a surgeon????please anyone who has gone through all of this,what do u say?I am so confused now.
I am 28 years old
I have two kids,3 years and 10 months.
I donot have any symptoms except a left sided pressure feeling under my ribs(CT is normal),I have pruritis since I got pregnant with my first child in 2005.
I am 110 pounds and working at MD. anderson in houston.
Do you know of any good oncologist and how can I go to md. anderson without a diagnosis of cancer yet???

Hi, Just wanted you to know I have read your post and I'm thinking of you. First of all- good on you, for sticking to your guns, and letting the Dr know to re check. So many unfortunate people here just take what the Doctor says as the final word- Even If deep down they wonder, or know themselves something is wrong.
2nd, keep onto it. I'm not sure excatly what Doctor to see...? Someone will let us know soon enough- If i had to guess I'd say Oncologist- then they would refer you to whom ever.

Anyway keep in touch on how you are going....and someone will reply soon, with more/better advice.

Hi, Sadaf, sorry about the worry you are going through.

It did occur to me that if you are working at the M.D.Anderson Center, you should be able to talk to someone there about your situation and ask for advice. As a member of staff you should have access to this kind of help.

I agree with everything Vee and In have said, such wise people on here Smile

As the chairman of the South African Lymphoma patient group I notice every post about swollen glands haha.
If your gland is swollen but not painful when you push on it and doesn't go away TAKE NOTE! This is the most common symptom of Lymphoma.
Other Lymphoma facts
avarage age of lymphoma patients 27yrs
night sweats
itchy/prickely skin with or with out a rash
loss of weight / tiredness
heart burn that does not respond well to usual treatment
most common site for the swollen glands is, neck, armpits, groin and ankles (non-painful swollen glands)

I don't want to alarm you but I have just heard so many stories of people who where undiagnosed for months before they started getting the right treatment for Lymphoma and lymphoma is a very treatable form of cancer.

A FNA (fine, needle, aspirate) of your swollen gland is a definitive test for lymphoma. Blood tests and the usual things will not help I am afraid to say.

I hope its something "silly" but don't stop till you have a definite diagnosis and treatment is starting to work.
