Thank you.....I know breasts are really important to a woman's image, but honestly, I'd get rid of the them in a heartbeat if it meant never having to deal with this. I do love my breasts, but they are just that....breasts....I'm not willing to sacrifice my life for them and I know that even if it came down to that I wouldn't spend more than a moment making that decision. I've even considered being tested for the BRA1 and BRA2 gene and taking preventative measures. My husband and family would love me with or without them.

Everything went really well. I got to leave the hospital a couple hours after having it done and now I'm recovering. I'm still a little sore, but not too bad. My throat really hurt after having the tube down it while I was asleep...that was probably the worst part. My doctor said that he was really optimistic about the results, but still sent it to pathology. I go back in two weeks for him to take out the stitches and give me my results. From looking at my breast it looks like they only cut half way around the nipple and folded it over, got the tumor out, and then put it back on. I've been changing the pad over it before I get in the shower daily and leaving a bra on. It feels a lot better in a bra. That's about it though....thanks for listening! I appreciate all the support on here.

Catie, I am glad everything went well for you. I know how difficult it must be for you to wait for the pathology results. Here is wishing you a speedy recovery and hoping for good news.

Hi All,
I got my test results back Thursday and....get excited....it was BENIGN!!! YAY!!!! It was just a b9 tumor and so I'm almost all healed and it's looking good. I'm glad I still had it taken out and would do it over a million times. Thanks so much for the support here. You guys are amazing! I can't encourage any women enough to do what their guts tells them is the right decision. Mine told me to have the lump removed and now I can sleep soundly at night knowing that I'm ok. I wish you all the best in your journeys and will continue to pray for you all that need prayers. Thank you for being there in my time of need.

Catie, that is so wonderful! I am so, so happy for you. What a wonderful Christmas present. Unfortunately for me, I am now going through the same thing with my 38 year old daughter. It is just breaking my heart. She found a large mass in her breast that popped up seemingly overnight...just like mine did. It is so large that it has made the breast noticebly larger than the other, through clothes. It is also painful. She is having a lumpectomy, tomorrow. They are injecting her sentinel node with dye, just in case. I'm suspecting that they are suspecting it is bc. What a blessing it would be if it is benign. That would be the best Christmas present I could ask for. Right now, Christmas is sad for me. I would take her place in a heartbeat, if only I could. If any of you care to, please say a prayer for her. Her surgery is around 11am, pacific time on 12/18. Thank you and many blessings to you all.
