My uncle, just today, recieved news that he has about 6 months to 18 months to live. He has adenocarcinoma of the lung that spread to his liver(stage IV). However, his doctors say he is too weak to recieve any treatment and as we believe, is in his last resort for help. He is scheduled to go to chemo in about two weeks at low doses, I assume. (The doctors say that after two treatments they will be able to tell if it is helping. However this is for his Lung and not the liver..they cannot treat??..I am confused) I am not sure of any other details due to my mother telling me and being too upset. I was just wondering if any one has heard of any affective "alternative" treatments that may work. i was also wondering if, by chance due to his condition, that he should get a second opionion? I am very upset as well as my mother and I am just looking for any hope. He has had a long history of heart and lung problems which probably does not help his condition but There has to be something out there!! Thanks for the advice!!!

Hello

I am really sorry to hear about your uncle. You can always go for a second opinion. Sometimes patients are just too debilitated to receive aggressive chemotherapy, as this would make things worse before making it better.

best regards,
Leo
