Hi all,
Mark had his follow up MRI today from debulking surgery in Oct. Surgeon has noticed some enhancement of tumour growth but not enough to consider more surgery just yet.
Surgeon has prescribed steroids (Mark hasn't taken these for quite a few months now), hoping these will "pick him up a bit". Mark is constantly tired & listless. Sleeps on & off most of the day & doesn't sleep well at night.
Mark hasn't had any further seizures since Neuro prescribed extra dilantin 2 weeks ago but he has been more tired since taking extra meds.
I do hope the steroids work & perk him up a little bit.
He went to his eldest daughter's graduation on Tues this week!! I'm sure this would have been a real highlight for him.
I will be visiting him this weekend & organising our family Christmas while I'm at the GC visiting.
Mark's neuro has given me some homework to do....I spoke to neuro in Oct about Dr Banerji's "Ruta 6" treatment. Apparently, I'm to look up an article written by M D Anderson centre about this homeopathic treatment. Surgeon also suggested Mark tries this treatment out. I'm so relieved the Dr is prepared to allow Mark to try something other than mainstream medicine.
Soooooo feeling quite "down" today! I just knew this MRI wouldn't be the best! At least he won't be having surgery before Christmas.
Thanks in advance for listening & reading.
Cheers, Aussie Angie. _________________ Brother has GBMIV

| Glad to hear Mark won't be needing surgery, but I'm sorry for the MRI results. I'll keep him in my prayers, and hopefully, things will get better for him. Wish I had more advice to give, but I'm still new to the whole "cancer" thing myself. What I can say though, is I can sympathize with Mark, as I also have something in my head that no one will operate on "yet". It's scary, and a relief all at once. Very strange feeling. |

Hi Aussie Angie,
Sorry to hear about the enhancement on your brother's tumour. I know the dilantin makes my husband really tired too. I hope the steroids help. . . .
It's nice to hear that he was able to attend his daughter's grad! That must have been a really special time.
I'd be interested to hear what sort of information you find on 'alternative' medicine. I've been hearing so much about the benefits of meditation and visualization. I'm trying to convince my husband to try because it can't hurt! I'm hoping he'll start to do yoga with me too . . . between the two kids and his work and being so tired though it's been tough to find the time.
I hope you have a great Christmas, and remember - without the odd 'down' day (as hard as they are) you wouldn't appreciate the good ones as much! Besides, I find this a great place to come when you have them . . . .
Cheers!

Hi Angie, how did your family Christmas go? How is Mark and the family going? I've been thinking of you. _________________ Love to all. Jen.

Hi Jen & to all my forum friends,
Thanks for your kind thoughts Jen.
Christmas / New Year are a distant memory now, but plenty of special times shared with family.
I trust you all shared quality time with your families too!
We returned from our 2 weeks away last Sat & I was straight back to work Mon. Today's my 1st day off & I am still unpacking from the beach holiday.
Whilst I was away Mark celebrated his 47th birthday, naturally it was a quiet affair. He has been to see neuro who has arranged an MRI in just over 2 weeks. Mark asked about trying different chemo? Neuro tells Mark that he is responding well to Temodal & that it is the best treatment all round for brain tumours. Told him that other chemos don't target as many tumour cells as Temodal. So whilst Mark is going well on Temodal he doesn't advise any change to his current medication. I have a question for the forum about different chemos but I will post a new thread for this.
Anyway, steady as she goes for us. I trust all is well here. I haven't had a chance to catch up on any particular story just yet but hope to be able to spend more time here when things are sorted here at home.
Love to all,
Cheers, Aussie Angie. _________________ Brother has GBMIV
