Hi - sorry about your mother. It is natural to feel concerned and to look for things to help, but while she is undergoing chemo, do not start any alternative treatments. Be very very careful of alternative therapies and what is claimed for them.
What you can look into is complementary treatments to help her with the effects of the chemo. There is plenty out there and you could start with this site for information: http://www.cancer.gov/cam/health_pdq.html
This link gives information on supplements: http://www.canceractive.com/page.php?n=845
Most important is to make sure that whatever you or your mother propose to do, her medical team is kept fully in the picture. It is important as there are some substances that adversely react with chemo. |

Hi little star, I think you are misunderstanding how chemotherapy works. It does not work by decreasing the immune system, although that is often a side effect of the chemotherapy. So, in consultation with your mother's medical team, you can find ways to help strengthen her immune system. That is where the links Vee gave you come in.
Good luck. _________________ Jim

I don't think you can do any harm with it. But do make sure that you tell her med. team if she starts to take it.
Also, you must make sure you know which chemo drug[s] she is receiving as they have different effects.
