My name is Heather Im currently 16 1/2. Heres my story:

During the summer I experienced very intense, painful abdominal pain. They thought was ovarian cysts since that runs in my family so they did pelvic exams, etc. The ER told us they just thought my 'follicules' were irritated and that the pain would go away. A week later the pain was still there so we went to my doctor and he set us up for a CT scan. The CT scan showed the lymph nodes in my pelvic were inflamed. They measured 11 mm. He then 'decided' it was a virus. He sent me home with pain killers and the pain eventually went away in another week. About a month ago I was at school when the pain reaccured. She set me up for another doctors appointment and once again they just did blood work, tests, blah blah blah. The x-rays showed that I had alot of hard stool so they gave me magnesium citrate to fix that since they thought that was the problem. My white blood count was also high. With my intestine clearER I still had the pain. She did another pelvic and found my right ovary was really sensitive, so they set up another CT scan. Meanwhile they thought it was either a kidney infection(two times I had blood in my urine and stool), appenditis, or ovarian cysts. In case there was a hidden infection she gave me antibiotics. That was two weeks ago. The CT scan came back showing the same thing except now my lymph nodes were 23 mm. It seems like they are just pushing us away. They gave me pain killers and set up an appointment with a gastrologist on Nov 29, but every day its getting harder and harder. Either its my stomach pain, feeling nausous(sp?), or my hand pain(they busted a vein when putting in an IV). I made it to my first FULL day of school last friday and its really hard to make it a whole day. Im constantly tired and that also prevents me from working. Even before I checked the symptoms Ive noticed Ive been having neck pain and hair loss. I havent lost too much weight though. Ive had a constant fever for a month. My lowest is 99 and my highest is 103. I dont even bother turning on the heat and night because I wake up sweating.

Im only 16 years old and I dont think anyone takes me seriously when I think something is wrong with me.

Hi, Heather .

I's sorry to hear of your pain and worry over your health issues. It's sad but sometimes, especially female- Some Dr etc, put it down as girl stuff, hormones, or just growing pains. etc.

You are doing the right thing by getting it looked at. Keep it up, be strong and fight for your right to be heard. You know your body best- and if something doesn't feel right, then keep onto it.

Good Luck sweetie and keep strong. We are here for you . Lets us know what does. or doesn't happen for you.
