Many of you have suggested that I forum could use a button like the Quote or Edit buttons to report to administration posts that violate the Forum's policies or are otherwise abusive or offencive. This is a great idea. I asked Leo about it and he told me that the new forum platform has that as a built in feature.

Here is my concern... to whom do those complaints go? To one person? To the moderator(s) of that forum? To all administrators and moderators? These questions are yet to be answered. It would be great if we had a moderator for each of our forums.

I know of a Forum my husband uses- they have a "staff only" thread at the bottom of the index.

All Admin, Moderators etc. Can post anything that concerns them and we can discuss these issues and put things to vote if undecided etc. Only the Staff can see this thread.

So If someone did hit this button?. Then we could all discuss why, and how, and what to do. In Private.

I thought this is a really good idea.

The two forums on which I am a moderator have similar approaches.

One places reported posts in a separate "reporting box" visible only to the Moderators and authorised personnel. They can then be moderated by any authorised contributors.

The other places them in a Moderators' General Admin box [ only visible to the moderators] and also notifies all the moderators by e-mail, leaving the thread with moderated note until action is taken.

Spam is easy - just deleted. The others can be discussed before a decision is taken.

well i'm more than happy to lend a hand if you need volunteers. the only question or concern that pops up with me is ; would the "button posts" notify me automatically or would i have to search for needles in a hay stack? I already counsel on other forums so if i'm not notified through my email service or my webpages i'll be online 24/7 just to get through it all. but if the posts are attached automatically then it should be fine.
