Dear JLSherr:
Sorry to hear your news. Please give us any information you may have at this point. My 58-year-old brother was diagnosed on Aug. 10, '07 and passed away on Sept. 23, '07. However, I believe he would have been diagnosed much, much sooner, had he gone to a doctor. He was an alcoholic for about 30 years (only drank beer -- don't think it has to be hard liquor). He once stood 6'2" or so and about the end of July, '07, he was down to 5'6". The cancer literally devoured him. He was nothing more than skin and bones. He had one tumor in his liver but then also the rest of his liver was full of "floating cancer cells" so there literally was nothing that could be done. The amazing thing is, he never had any pain, other than some discomfort due to the fact that his bones were protruding so badly, he was most uncomfortable sitting on chairs or even lying in bed near the end. But other than that, he was spared from the excruciating pain most cancer patients experience. His doctors could not explain it either. He had one oxycontin pain pill the evening of Sept. 22nd and he was found the morning of Sept. 23rd. He refused to let my sister and I stay with him that night and he passed sometime during the night. The ME said it was probably shortly after he laid down that night. We left him at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Maybe I can compare our two cases and give you some insight as to some of the things you might expect. Keep your chin up and you will be strong for your loved one's sake. _________________ Missing My Bro' |
