im not sure what to say or do my husband has a 44 year old sister who has stage 4 lung cancer and will not ask for any time frames and will not do chemo she is currently taking tarceva and i know so little on this cancer all i know is my husband has been away for over a month and is comming home for a week in oct and will return till the end of november some time as of right now so im here alone with a business to run and two teenages and some rental proprety as well as everything else i find my self angry that i have no help then guilty for mentioning it for i want my husband to be where he wants to be right now yet i feel so far away from what is going on and not to mention the rest of the family seems to each be suffering in other ways that are just making things worse he seems so distant from me and never seems to have to much time for much although he does tell me whats going on he is now mentioning getting a job where he is at and i dont know when this will happen due to not having much time for anything much less a job? im so confussed and yet im not sure im really sad that everyone is hurting i feel selfish and yet im lost when it comes to understanding the cancer my husband sister has and im not sure what to say to anyone or how to act to any of them please help what ever advise you can give would help a little more info on my sister in laws cancer she has 3 tumors in her brain 3 on her lung on in her throat and 2 on her lympnoids recently she has been throwing up blood and running a low grade fever on and off due to the tarceva she has good days and bad some days she goes out and does errands and some she will sleep pretty much all day any insight would be helpfull my husband does not share all the details so it is hard for me to ask him he is suffering in his own way as the rest of them im sure thanks for your time

I am so sorry that you are having to cope with all this. There seem to be two problems - your sister-in-law's illness and your husband's absence. So far as I can understand, your sister-in-law is now suffering from metastatic cancer = that is, the cancer cells have migrated from the original site of development to other organs in the body. Your description does not sound hopeful.

Tarceva is a recognised means of treatment for one type of cell cancer. Have you looked it up?
