Hi, sorry that I didn't see this until now. There's a whole bunch of survivors and advice on the American Cancer Society Survivors discussion board.
I've been treated for nasopharyngeal cancer. What would you like to know? You're probaby almost done with your treatment by now.
Best wishes! |

Hi nporter,
It seems like few people have enough experience with nasopharyngeal cancer to give you much advice. I just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
A couple of questions: 1. What chemotherapy or other treatment did you receive and 2. What side effects are you having? _________________ Jim

I'm surprised that your doctors do not recognize that you will have side effects from radiation and/or chemotherapy. They must not deal with many survivors. I felt that my doctors were great at providing me with treatment, but they did not prepare me for the after effects. Maybe they did not want to forewarn me because I might focus my energies looking for symptons rather than getting well.
The survivors are all different and rates of recovery are different. If you've lost your tastebuds, you will get them back. You are probably experiencing dry mouth, and that too will improve. You will slowly get stronger. I think that about six months after my treatment, I began an exercise program to build up my strength.
I don't want to list my problems because you might not get them at all. What are you experiencing?
OK if I send you an email? |
