Hi everybody,
Interferon and IL-2 were not successful in treating my cancer. I am doing some research about E2603 and raf265, both treatments recommended by my doctor at Beth Israel H. in Mass.
I am not closed to other trials.
Any advise? |

The best source for trial information is not available to the public... or at least I have not been able to locate it. I did see the list in my Oncologist's office one time. My best advice to you is to talk this over with your own oncologist or to seek help at major medical centers that do cancer research like Vanderbilt, M.D. Anderson, Duke, Mayo Clinic, and too many others for me to list here. Sometimes, these centers have satellite centers that may be nearer to you. It is worth checking out.
Good luck finding what you need. _________________ Jim

I used to work at a hospital in a relatively small town in Kentucky. The city had two medium sized hospitals (approx. 270 beds each). Both hospital and all the oncology groups in town joined together to do research under the M.D. Anderson protocols. That is what I mean by satellite research programs. To be sure, all that we did was participate in programs that had already been through years and years of studies so they were relatively safe treatment protocols. Nevertheless, we could offer our cancer patients almost identical therapies offered by M.D. Anderson. It is worth a try to check in your local community for this level of research. _________________ Jim

Hi Garaipen,
I had a similar situation. We tried IL-2 first and it did nothing. The Tumors actually got bigger during the trial. After that, we started Chemo, Taxol and Carbaplatnum, and they are working. The tumors are shrinking and there has been no new growth or new tumors.
My melanoma is in my lungs, liver and back. I'm hoping for the best and staying positive. I also had a small spot in my brain which we treated with Gamma Knife radiation and it worked really well. Things are really improving since I started. I've had 6 doses of the Chemo and 1 week of radiation on my back.
Hope this helps.

Garaipen,
Visit www.mpip.org if you haven't already. There are more individuals there who are having treatments. |
