I have Cervical Cancer Stage 3

Hi,
I'm new here too and have stage 3 cervical cancer. I finished treatment last week. I too, feel like my life has been a bit out of control. But I've learned to roll with it. I'm strong as I know you are. Not much real support at home, but plenty, and wonderful support at the treatment center. I'm grateful for the support wherever it comes from.
I've done chemo and radiation, internal and external. Other than some fatigue, which is fine with me because I like to nap, I haven't had too much trouble.
I wish you well. The people helping to treat you know what they're doing. Unless you feel really uncomfortable with something, listen to them and follow their guidance. If you are uncomfortable about something, talk to them. I always felt like I never knew the right questions to ask, but I'd ask anyway.
Some days I found harder than others. I'd just do what needed to be done and focus on later in the day when the treatment would be over. You'll find strength too in others you meet.
You'lll get through just fine. Be patient with yourself.
I'd be happy to share my experience, or my shoulder to lean on if you need me.

Hello Betty,

Wondering if you could answer me something-?

I had level 4-5 Cervcial cancer and only had a cone-biopsy. They took all cervix, glands and neck of womb. Pretty much all of it, but the uturus. I didn't have any radio- or chemo. And wondered why??? i have had smears after and all clear, but often wonder is it enough- since if cervical cancer spreads- then there is little hope.

I now have smears every 6months. (oops due now). Anyway why do you think no chemo or radio?. I'm From Australia, and don't know if that means anything- though i have noticed alot of tretments are more evasive there.

Hi Betty, I am so sorry about your diagnosis! I have little to no information about cervical cancer. Hopefully, others with more experience and knowledge with this type of cancer will jump in and give you support. I can say that I will be thinking about and praying for you.

I will also take the credit or blame Embarassed

for spitting off your post and creating a new thread. I know you were replying to someone else, but that individual has not posted to that thread in a rather long time (May 2007). Hopefully, this way you will receive more support.

Dear Inica,
First, and most important, there is always hope. Please make sure you keep that in your heart as I will keep you in my prayers.
I'm not sure why they didn't do chemo or radiation for you. They said they couldn't do any surgery on me. I would trust their guidance.
Please know I'm definitely not an expert, I only know things I've read and from my personal experience.
It sounds to me like they've done a good job for you. They removed the cancer via a cone biopsy and your tests have been good. It's hard not to worry about a recurrence. Try not to anyway, do something that gets your mind off the cancer. It's not always easy to do, but you'll find that in time, it will be easier and easier not to think about it. Keep in mind that they are watching carefully and will catch anything quickly when it can be more easily taken care of.
As for wondering why they did or didn't do treatments, ask and if you don't understand the answer, ask again until you do. I've told my doctors that I don't always understand the medical stuff so they need to talk slow and use smaller words that I can understand. I'm sure if you needed any further treatment they would have done it.
Please try not to worry too much. I know you've probably heard this a million times by now...a positive attitude is so important. None of us can keep it positive all the time, but as time goes by, the positive will take over and you'll feel so much better all the time.

Dear Jim.
Thanks for starting the new post. I'm doing fine, at least until some silly doctor tells me I'm not and I probably won't believe him anyway. I stumbled onto this site and am so glad I did.
I hope you are well and stay that way. Thanks for keeping a close eye on the posts and starting the new one.

All test since then are clear, just alot of worry every check.
