Hello, I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy in 2 days and I really terrified of what could be found. I know I should not be trying to self diagnose on the internet but how can you help from it....

I recently went to the dr after pressure from my mother about random episodes of blood in my stool. This would not happen all the time and the first incident was maybe a year and half ago. But over the last month it seemed to show once a week and some slight constipation. I have never had any abdominal pain or anything and usually the blood would just be on the toilet paper and occasionally in the bowl but mostly just bright red on the T.P. In addition it feels like when this happen something tears in anus, I get a sharp stinging like pain and then it goes after I have passed my stool. But it will hurt for a few days if I try to use the restroom.

So my doctor did a rectal exam for hemorrhoids and did not find anything or feel any masses and since I am adopted and do not know my family history he ordered a colonoscopy.

I am only 26 and scared of what could be wrong do these symptoms sound as though I could be facing serious news????

Hi,

I know it's easier said then done, but try not to borrow trouble and make yourself sick with, what if's. It could be many things other then cancer, but it's wise of your doctor to order a colonoscopy to find out what is going on. Many people have polyps that are B9, but removed and it could be nothing. IF it is cancer, the sooner you find out, the sooner you start treatment and the less time it has to spread. Family hx helps in keeping an eye on things earlier, but it doesn't determine if you will get cancer or not. I had absolutely no hx of cancer...... I was the 1st.

Please let us know what you find out.

You're in my prayers for B9 results!!!!
