I had a Stage 1 melanoma about 8 months ago on my back. Since then I have been completely paranoid and I tend to have a lot of atypical moles. I have a question about a mole that I have below my stomach where there is hair. I have a mole that is about 1/4" and it has a hair in it. I sometimes shave there. Anyway, where that one hair is on the mole it has white around it and I think it always has. The mole seems to be round and the same color, so I just wondered if it is normal to not have pigment around the hair in a mole or is it ulcerated? Thanks for any help

I had melanoma in my eyebrow and after a while the hairs in and around it started to turn white, I assume it was killing everything. Also it did turn white like you were saying but it was doing that because it was beginning to peel like dead skin. I think it's a little different because mine wasn't a mole it was just a new symetrical, nodular melanoma. If I feel like something is out of place on my skin I usually go back, I have two or three times. It's better safe than sorry with this stuff.

Only a doctor who actually takes a look at it and biopsies the mole can tell you if it is normal or not. Therefore, I have no opinion other than to say to you: "Go and see your doctor." This forum is a great place to find information and support but is not suited for diagnosing or even giving best guesses. Good luck and may God bless you.
