My boss, who has become a close friend was admitted to the hospital monday. They found she has a brain tumor, and operated yesterday to remove it. They are still having tests done, but the doctor fears the worst. He said if it is not in stage IV, it is for sure III. I have not gotten to see her yet, because I stay with her kids, and she has been in ICU until tonight.

What I really want to do is bring her a little "care package" from me and the kids when I go see her. What were some things that really made you/your loved ones feel better when they were in the hospital? She is still really noise sensitive, so music and videos are out. I'm trying to think of warm, comforting things to make her feel a little better, and not so much in a sucky place like a hospital.

I do hope that the results are better than you fear.

Finding suitable things for someone in hospital is such a problem! If she is feeling like eating anything, then try to find really small biscuits[cookies] - merely a mouthful each. Over here we have tiny biscuits which have a small cap of icing, and there are also cheesy biscuits and little oatcakes. Sometimes plain biscuits are better.

Really nice handcream can be a liftener, preferably in a smallish tube.

A small furry toy to hold is something that can be very comforting!

Drawings by the children.

thanks for the quick response. We have been sending cards that the kiddos are makin for her. I also took a video of them the other day that her husband took and she loved. I've been taking pictures nonstop, because she really misses the kids I know.

Thanks for the ideas.
