Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with what the type of diet i should provide my mother. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2 weeks ago and i'm really not too sure what i should be giving her. So far I have been buying her organic foods and feeding her mostly foods high in nutrients but yet I feel like I am missing something. Anyways any help would be wonderful.

Thank you

Ramon

ramon,
I don't think any definitive diet has proven to be substantially better than others. Probably the best diet is a balanced healthy diet that is low in fats and red meats. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables are a good thing as well. Patients should also try to stay active with things like walking. Patients with pancreatic cancer may have pancreatic insuffiency, which means they lack the necessary digestive enzymes the pancreas normally makes. If your mother starts to have diarrhea that seems to float and smell bad, this maybe the case. Have her doctors evaluate for this and determine if she may benefit from pancreatic enzyme supplements to help her digest food. Best wishes,
