I was diagnosed with extensive LCIS and microinvasion 6 years ago. I had bilateral mastectomy, no further treatment. I have since developed severe sarcoidosis, and have read that there is an increased probability of lymphoma or metastatic disease occurring eventually. Do you have any information on this? Also, do you believe in prophylactic removal of ovaries and uterus to prevent cancer following LCIS?

Hi,

From what I just read about the disease, it says it can "look" like TB or Lymphoma, but it doesn't say it can cause either disease. It looks like the main reason that people get it, is too much Vitamin D and recommends staying out of the sun.

I had ILC, Stage III but since Chemo put me into menopause, I didn't have my ovaries removed. With LCIS being Stage 0, I wouldn't think it would be necessary to have a hysterectomy or oopherectomy (sp), but it's something that your onco would know the benefits of, if there are some.

I haven't checked out any other sites. I did speak with an oncologist who says that sometimes sarcoidosis coexists with lymphoma, and that it is difficult to know what to do. It's usually a wait and see attitude, which doesn't sit well with me.
