I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAVING HAD A LUMPECTOMY IS USING A BREAST PROSTHESIS? I HAVE BEEN PUTTING OFF GETTING ONE FOR 2 YEARS BECAUSE OF THE MONEY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT WOULD MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN HOW I LOOKED AND FELT ABOUT MYSELF. I WOULD LIKE ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE ME ABOUT THIS.
THANKS _________________ HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE DAY |

I would think that a prosthesis sould be covered by medical insurance. If that is not so in your case, perhaps the American Cancer Society can offer some financial assistance. Good luck, Lauri _________________ Diagnosed 4/11/1996

MY INSURANCE WOULD COVER IT IF THERE WAS A NETWORK PROVIDER ANYWHERE NEAR ME. THERE IS NOT ONE SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A $300.00 DEDUCTIBLE AND THEN 50% OF THE REST. SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL SAY THEY DO NOT COVER IT AT ALL. I WILL GO ON MEDICARE IN 2 MONTHS AND I DID FIND OUT THIS EVENIG THAT THEY WILL COVER IT. I GUESS I WILL JUST WAIT UNTIL I GO ON THE MEDICARE TO GET THIS. _________________ HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE DAY |

Two months may seem like a long time right now, but it will pass before you know it. And, after all, you have already waited 2 years. Sorry the insurance provider issue is a problem. That's sort of a nuisance, isn't it?? Good luck, Lauri _________________ Diagnosed 4/11/1996

I'm not sure where you live but Nordstroms by me has prosthetic fitters and they will file your insurance claim if it is one that they have an agreement with. Even if it isn't they will get you the paperwork to submit to your insurance company. Mine pays for two bras I had a double mastectomy) a year and I belive prothesis once every three years. When I was being fitted for mine another woman was being fitted for a lumpectomy. There are so many types and styles. Hers had adhesive that lasted for 100 wearings is what I understood the saleslady to say. You WILL feel so much better about how you look - I really encourage you to get them. _________________ Madge
