Dear CAN,
So sorry to read about your Mum's diagnosis, such alot for you all to bear. I have found since posting on this site lots of support & information which has been very helpful. We are all on our own cancer journeys with our loved ones, family & friends but you can come to this forum & speak to someone who is on a similar journey & experiencing similar difficulities to yourself & your Mum. Please know my thoughts & prayers are with you & your Mum. Help your Mum find a Dr she is totally comfortable with & stick with him/her. I don't have any real advice at this time as I am a relative newcomer to this forum myself. My 45yr young brother has GBM 1V. Regards, Angie. _________________ Brother has GBMIV

Dear CAN, so sorry to hear about your mother's condition. It would be helpful to know exactly what type, grade, size, and location of the cancers she is dealing with. However, since it is primary lung cancer, if is easy to assume that the tumor(s) in her brain are metastatic growth of her lung cancer therefore the lung cancer would be a grade IV (if I am wrong about this, someone please correct me). Generally speaking, whole brain radiation is not good on the brain. Ask her medical team about the risk vs benifits. I am sure they will give you a long list of possible side effects. Try to pin them down on what are the most likely ones in your mother's case. Also, ask them it this radiation the indented for cure of for paliative care.
On this Sunday morning, I will keep you and your mother in my prayers and thought. _________________ Jim

FIRST OF ALL THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR REPLIES : KSPLAT BRAINMAN ,RLEE.
MY MUM IS NOT WITH ME ,SHE IS IN MY HOME COUNTRY AND ENGLISH IS NOT OUR NATIVE LANGUAGE SO I FIND IT BIT DIFFCULT TO TRANSLATER ALL HER DETAILS IN ENGLISH BUT I LL MANAGE TO PUT MORE DETAILES:
BRAINMAN YOU ARE RIGHT , the tumor(s) in her brain are metastatic growth of her lung cancer ,THE DOCTORS CAN NOT TAKE OUT ANY TEST TO CONFORM THE TYPE OF HER LUNG CANCER( RIGHT LUNG DEEP IN THE MIDDLE ABOUT 1.6*1.8 SIZE , BUT SOME OF THEM DO SAY IT LOOK LIKE Adenocarcinoma ( I TRANSLATE IT MY SELF)BUT DONT KNOW THESTAGE , THANKS TO bRAIN MAN YOU MIGHT GIVE ME MORE INFO ABOUT MY MUM .THE ONE MOVED TO BRAIN ARE 1.8*2.0 9 RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE ) AND 2 SMALL SIZE LIKE RICE. NOW THE NEWS ONES IN BRAIN ARE ANOTHER 2 SMALL RICE SIZED ONES AND THE PRIVIOUS BIG ONE IS SILECELY BIGGER THAN BEFORE.
THE DOCTORS THERE ARE DIFFRENT FROM HERE, IF YOU GO TO SEE REDIATION TERM THEY LL SAY YOU CAN GET MORE TREATMENT THERE FOR MY MUM, IF YOU TOOK HERE TO CHEMO TEAM THEY LL TAKE HER THERE TOO , IT LINKS THE PROFIT THEY MAKE RUTHER THAN TAKE A REALLY CONSIDERation on my mum. THATS WHY I AM SO CONFUSED WHAT TO DO TO MY MUM , OR RATHER LET HER NOT TAKE ANY ACTION
I LL KEEP THE FIRST POST UPDATED IF i CAN KNOW MORE INFORMATION . THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN . |

CAN, your English is just fine. Fortunately, most scientific words come from Greek or Latin and are easily translated. I am sorry that the location of your mother's cancer makes it difficult for the doctors to biopsy. What country does she live in? Do you have any way to go and be with her? That is probably the thing she would like the most at a time like this. She will probably need chemotherapy and/or whole brain radiation since the cancer has speed throughout her body. The exact locations of the metastatic cancer growths will determine her treatment. I will keep you and your mother in my thoughts and prayers.
Look at the replies to your message under lung cancer as well, since your mother's primary cancer is lung cancer. _________________ Jim
