I lost my dad in december 06 and im still struggling now, its harder than i thought people kept saying it gets easier (i wish it would) i suppose in a way ive stopped crying over him everynight so thats a start, my dad was only 52, he left my mam, two daughters, me his only son and my son his only grandchild (he's only 18 month now), i dont mean to go on but i feel a lot better by coming on here as i have no one to talk to about it, but im here for anyone who wants to talk if you are facing or going through this same experience, i'll try my hardest to help you,
Thanks Matt.

Hi Matt -
I'm very sorry that you lost your Dad - I'm new on here too - my Dad was just diagnosed - don't worry about going on and on - that's what this place is for - I've only posted a few things but I have found comfort in the fact that we're not alone - there are so many caring compassionate people on this board that are more than willing to offer their support for your pain - I can't say that I have any idea how you feel, haven't been there yet - but you're in my thoughts and prayers
Take care - and know that you're not alone

I am losing my dad so I have no idea what to say except that it sucks I suppose I could be more flowery or try to talk about greater plans or the circle of life but the reality is that it really sucks. I don't know if it gets easier. I really doubt it. We just get up every morning have breakfast go to work come home do chores go to bed and repeat. I know that right now that is what it is for me.
All I know is there is more getting done at home and my workouts have a new aggressive edge to them.
Have to go.
I was going to end this possitive I think but I just got paged

Hi Matt,

I'm very sorry for your loss! I just lost my dad on 3/16/07 to primary liver cancer, but I'm sure it was the pneumonia that ultimately took him from us. It was a consolation that he went peacefully (he just never woke up, but was extremely alert up until the day before), but it has been difficult dealing with the loss. I don't know if dealing with the loss gets any easier, but I believe that with time, you learn to adjust and you learn to live with the loss. I have my good days and bad days, but when I really miss my dad, I do find it helpfull to talk to him or write to him. It also helps to have good support around you and talk to someone you're comfortable with...............whatever means you can as long as you get your emotions out somehow. And it's important to remember that you have to find the strength to also continue doing things you used to like/love......in my case, it's reading and going to dinner, movies or just hanging out with friends because it's a good distraction.

Anyway, I'm in the process of reading this book titled "Getting Back to Life When Grief Won't Heal" by Phyllis Kosminsky and it seems to help and validate what it feels to lose and grieve for a loved one and try to carry on. I think it's a really good book so give it a try if you have some time. Take care!
