My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 colon Cancer with liver mets about 11 months ago. She was put on oxaliplatin then avastin, irinotecan and lastly certuximab (erbitux). We went for a scan 2 days ago and we were told that she is not responding to the chemo. Apparently there is no point of having more chemo anymore. Does anyone know of any other treatment we can try. How much time do we have left now that she is not having Chemo. Our Oncologist is not very helpful and it is not easy to change and get another one.

PS. PLease dont suggest prayer because my wife is only 27 and if God thought it OK to give her cancer I dont see much point in appealing to Him. Maybe some day I will regain my faith but not just yet Mad Mad Crying or Very sad

joymaze,
A devastating situation, and I'm very sorry to hear about this. It sounds like your wife as done the standard approved treatments without much success. The next step would be to obtain a 2nd opinion at a major academic medical center or maybe one of the top cancer centers - Memorial-Sloan Kettering or MD Anderson. Most major centers will have clinical trials that your wife maybe eligible to participate including phase I-III. I hope this information helps. Also look at clinicaltrials.gov for ongoing trials throughout the US. Best wishes,
