Hi Guys Just after your help really. Some of you who I speak to off the forum will know that my dad passed away in January from Prostate Cancer whilst being cared for by St Johns Hospice in Moggerhanger. They are affiliated with Sue Ryder Care group who specialise in caring for people with neurological and cancer problems.
I know this may sound cheeky putting this here but anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer will understand how I feel. The care they provided for my dad overwhelmed our whole family and we would like to give something back.

Me and my sister Rachel are running the 5k 'Beat the Baton' Marathon in Battersea Park, London on May 28th 2007. This is the first time we have fundraised for the above cause and its the first time we have felt ready since grieving for our dad to do something like this. We are also doing a sponsored skydive in October 2007.

http://www.justgiving.com/ractray is the site that we are promoting ourselves on, please take the time to have a look and please help us out by donating. Even £1 is £1 closer to the funds they need to keep the hospice running.

Did you know that...

£70 will pay for a specialist bandages for one of our Lymphoedema patients
£160 will pay for a blood transfusion for one of our patients
£376 will pay for one day’s stay at St John’s Hospice
£685 will pay for our doctors for one day
£2,100 will pay for our nurses for one day
£4,700 will pay for the running of St John’s Hospice for one day

I know that some of you will be thinking numerous thoughts about this post and I have posted it here as I expect a good result, I dont expect people to donate but supporting us will be a great relief as this is something which is very close to mine and my families heart. Just thinking about doing this makes my eyes well up knowing that my dad would be so proud of us for trying to help the people that gave him that quality of life he had in his last days. Thinking how I will feel when we have finished the race will overwhelm me even more. There is so much that my dad will miss from my life, let alone my siblings. I get married in August and he wont be able to give me away and I wont be able to turn to him in times of need or ring him when I need a shoulder to cry on. I miss him so much, it hurts (seriously).

This is our way of helping him, St Johns and Sue Ryder Care. Its also helping us mentally to deal with our loss and Im hoping that you will help too.

Thanks for reading all of this

Tracey (Tdub) & Rachel Lankshear
