Anyone taking Xeloda and can give info on side effects?

My Mother had surgery to remove a colon cancer tumor. She also has nephrotic syndrome and was a tough recovery case. She is 76 yrs. old and really cannot handle much more. I was wondering if anyone taking Xeloda could give me some feedback on side effects. Her Oncologist has her a low dose (500mgs. twice daily) for now to see how she does. We are waiting to get information before putting her through this.

Here is some basic information concerning side effects:

Bone marrow suppresion, diarrhea and mucositis, Hand-Foot syndrome (tingling, pain, numbness, hyperpigmentation, nail changes, desquamation)
somnolence and confusion, Cardiac problems such as chest pain, Dry skin, and a metallic taste.

You should discuss the risks and benefits of any therapy with your medical team.

My dad starts on that next tuesday he is 78, how has your moms side effects been?
