Hi - Can you tell me of any top specialists for colon / bone cancer in Nebraska? Omaha would be best, but other places are fine also. The colon cancer has reappeared and is now showing in the bone.

Looking for specialists to obtain a second opinion to explore all options. Any information on alternative doctors in nebraska for complementary treatment would be welcomed also. Any doctors in nebraska that believe in treating the whole patient and not just the disease would be also helpful.

Looking to find top docs and treatment center near home in Nebraska to make it easier on the patient and family.

Thank you - this is such a wonderful forum.

The University of Nebraska and Creighton University would probably be your best bets. Dr. Lynch at Creighton is world re-known for his work on hereditary colon cancer syndromes. Although, not directly related to your situation, something to keep in mind. Good luck,

I used to live in Nebraska and UNMC is well renowned. I would go there.

I was diagnosed with Stage IV. Initially told I could die at any moment. With luck I had 18 months with treatment. Although I currently live in Missouri, I chose to go to the University of Minnesota, where I got a totally different answer. I also signed up for a clinical trial. Today, I have no evidence of disease after being diagnosed in July of '04.

It was my choice to look into a top hospital, regardless of where it was. You can look on this web site for places.

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/best-hospitals/tophosp.htm

Here's a web site that I found useful in letting me know that traveling over 8 hours for treatment wasn't an insane thing to do.

http://www.blochcancer.org/

Click on info for patients

Click on fighting cancer.

Some people are worried about costs, but there is angel flight

http://www.angelflight.com/

and http://www.corpangelnetwork.org/

to take you to and from treatment for free.

There is also Hope Lodge that will let you stay for free during treatment.

Hope this helps.
