Hi there
I have been so stressed following the news that I have T2N0 lower rectal cancer and will need a permanent colostomy that I thought I had already posted to this forum.

Is there anyone in this group that has a permanent colostomy, I'm really struggling with the thought of such major surgery and coping with the recovery. I am 50 and have survived a malignant melanoma since 1994, but this is worse in my opinion because I will be left with an obvious permanent reminder and disfiguring surgery.

Any thougths would be appreciated. Today I bought some meditiation tapes to help me cope. My loving husband has been wonderful, I'm having trouble accepting this.

I've read lots of posts and I don't know if I can be as strong as most of the people in forum seem to be.

god bless

Rels...

I am a 46 year old single mom, I had a colosotomy at 41, I was devasted! Then I met my bf after I had my surgery I have someone who loves me and keeps me strong, and the way we look at it is it isn't a disfigurement, it is a courage scar that is keeping me alive! I am still with the same man and he is wonderful!

You and your husband are lucky to have each other . stay side by side hold on and be strong.

Best wishes and May God Bless!

Barbara

Thanks
Barbara for your reply - I can coming to terms with things slowly - I am getting all the information I can and gradually gaining control of my fear - I somehow know that I will be Ok - it's coming to grips with it all. - Nice to hear that you are doing so well.
