Well, hello again to all of you both old and new. I must tell you that my wife and our family had a wonderfull christmas. She has been doing very well. They have her on an appetite booster called Meg Ace concentrate. She takes 1/2 teaspoon every morning. She has an excellent appetite and to date she has gained back 22 pounds of her weight she has lost. The most exciting thing we have heard is that her tumor marker was at a 40 when we found out through a cat scan that the tumor had doubled in size. Now her tumor marker is down to a 23 which they say is a good thing. We are just in awe not knowing how optimistic to get. We know her end result but we are thinking she might make it past the February prognosis they gave us a month ago. We have another cat scan on January 11. That will tell the story of the tumor they say. There is the possibility that the tumor has developed into more tumors but we dont know for sure. In any event we are taking the shred of good news and clinging on to it for dear life. Our six children are pretty happy but really dont know for sure what to think at this point.
To all of you that have posted recently I am so sorry for your position. It certainly isnt easy and I can tell you loike many others on here that it wont get any easier. I can tell you that this forum helps me tremendously. It is a different way to somewhat educate yourself with real life information and also temporarily lose the lonely felling that you wake up with every morning and go to bed with every night. While I sit and read these posts, I fell that there is a huge group of us that are all around the country and dont even know one another but we share one common bond. We are about to lose someone very special in our lives.
God Bless You everyone and I hope that you seek and finds the comfort for you and your loved one that will somehow get you through this nightmare.
Your friend, Mark |

Hi Mark,
Sending out holiday greetings to you and your family!
I'm glad that you all had a wonderful Christmas and I hope the new year brings all of you good health and happiness. I think that's terrific news your wife has gained back 22 pounds. That is definitely something to celebrate! Whatever you're doing, keep it up, coz it sure is working.
Take good care of your wife and your family. |

Well, we went for the cat scan on January 11. The doctor told us that the tumor had not grown. My wife and I are looking at each other wondering if this is good news or not. She has gained weight because of the appetite medicine they give her. She has gained back almost 25 pounds of what she had lost. We almost want to get optimistic but we sit and wonder, Could she be the rare survivor of this terrible disease? We certainly do not know, but we know who is the only one for sure.. She is tired all of the time.. She sleeps probably 15 to 18 hours per day. She is real jerky when she sleeps. Her skin is drying out something terrible and now her feet have begun to split open. Nothing bad just the skin splits and leaves a sore that we put medicine on.
I know she is very tired and really as bad as she wants to make it, her body and mind are so so tired. This is what we talk about when we are alone and the kids are gone. In any event, I feel so sorry for her, she just seems helpless laying there in her chair. I am selfish sometimes, I want God to either make her better or let her quit suffering. How a person's mind wanders through this terrible ordeal.
In any event, thank you to those who have replied and I hoope everyone has had a nice holiday season considering your situations. We are in Southern Missouri and have just undergone a terrible ice storm. We luckily didnt lose power but we have several family and friends who did. Hopefully it will all start to melt soon and we can get back to decent weather.
All of you take care adn you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Mark,
Please keep us posted to your wife's condition. I'm praying that she is one of the lucky ones...there is always hope. My mom has taken a turn for the worse - she can no longer walk on her own, has trouble sitting up and now is losing control of her bladder/bowels. I'm absolutely heartbroken and don't know when there will be time when I'm not sad. Hearing your wonderful wife's progress and that she is gaining weight and her tumor marker count is down is very positive news - I'll keep praying for you and your family.
