When diagnosed as having recurrent PC as evidenced by a nadir psa greater than 0.2 is it just assumed the recurrence is confined to the bed of the prostate due to the "orderly spread" tendency of PC or are there additional tests which should be completed to assure that the PC is, in fact, confined to that area before begining the salvage radiation therapy? (psa 0.3)

A CT scan has been scheduled and MD indicates this is strictly for planning purposes re: the EBRT.

Hello

I can't give specific advice, but usually when one suspects prostate cancer recurrence, it is common to get a bone scan in addition to a CT scan.

regards,
Leo

Why wouldn't a ProstaScint or PAP be indicated?

Hello

One of these tests you mentioned can be done, it's just that classically a bone scan is usually done. But the tests you mentioned are more specific for prostate cancer lesions.

Leo
