Hi,
I don't remember how I got to be over 50 so I'm not sure what to tell you... married x 32 years to a former Canook, no kids, love Alaska, don't get anxious about tests or exams, have a stubbornly dedicated local internist, am hundreds of miles by air or sea from specialists, love working at home as a computer commuter...
Nice meeting you all! _________________ Dx Dec 2001 at age 50

My name is Marge. I live in Folsom, CA. As you can see by my signature I was diagnosed this summer. I feel blessed to not have needed chemo or radiation. I am awaiting reconstruction (I was supposed to have it with my mastectomes but the expanders were no where to be found 10 minutes before I was scheduled to go into the OR....long story)
I find this website and the wonderful people who post here a source of encouragement and knowlege. Thank you all for sharing and being so open about your experiences, good and bad.
May 2005 bring you all a wealth of health and happiness.

Hi Madge! I was raised in Placerville. My husband and I were just there earlier this month -- wish I could have met you. Welcome to Leo's inspirational site!

Hi, my name is Susan and I live on Long Island, NY. I am currently adjusting to life after treatment has ended. Dealing with side effects is frustrating and scary at times. Knowing the difference between what might be a symptom of recurrance or a side effect of treatment is a fine line. I find that there isn't enough info out there to help us with that. Sites such as this are a great resource! _________________ Take care,
Susan

Bumping this back up to the top of the board. If you are new here, please take a moment to post to the roll call. It is a helpful way for us to get better acquainted. Thanks, Lauri _________________ Diagnosed 4/11/1996

Hi - Peggy from Indiana, near Illinois line.
Mammogram showed calcifications 7/2004, had stereotactic biopsy which showed DCIS, surgery 9/21/04 with part of margin not clear, recision 11/3/04 clear margins. I'm waiting for appt to have tiny tube placed for MammoSite procedure, scan, and then the 5 days radiation.
Have grown daughter and son, 2 grandsons, all living in other states, and husband. My source of joy right now is toy fox terrier who was lost and we have taken in. Sometimes you just need something to cuddle.
Retired on disability from VAMC due to problems brought on by rheumatoid arthritis, 3 joint replacements and many surgeries. _________________ DCIS 9/04

I live in the snowy hinterlands of Michigan (just plowed my driveway), and m history is quite extensive (see below):
IDC Left Breast: 2.5 cm (no clear margins) DCIS Right Breast (no clear
margins) Grade III Tumor Angiolymphatic Invasion present HER+ FISH - /5
Nodes negative (the surgeon would only take out "5" due to my prior radiation-
see below)
May 20, 2004 Bilateral Mastectomy/with expanders (just got exchange-not
happy with implants)
Stage IIB-No adjuvant therapy; but may consider oopherectomy in January
Hodgkin's Disease 1975-1976; Stage II Radiation 5x weekly
Thyroid Cancer 1999; Partial Thyroidectomy, then determined no clear
margins so preceded with complete Thyroidectomy!
Geeeez...I got tired just reading that....anyways...currently waiting to hear about my recent CT scan (pulmonary nodules)..see my onc next week.
Makes me so frustrated and sad to see this disease impacts so many...and yet, there still is "no" cure.
God Bless you all.

Hi,
My name is Bethany, I'm 43 years old and live in Frederick, Maryland. I have 2 sons and 3 step children, so the house is pretty filled. MuttsMom told me about this site, and from what I've seen it's wonderful. I was diagnosed Dec. 2003, so this past Dec. marks 1 years since my diagnosis and am doing fine now. In my signature I have my medical bio. I think message boards are fantastic and as the saying goes "knowledge is power".

My name is Roxanne
My cancer stats are on my signature line
I am a fulltime RVer since retirement (last Feb 04); and my husband and I had planned to travel the States for the next 5-7 years before resettling (we pictured ourselves as the current day Charles Kerault
I was born in Duluth Minnesota (Dr. Leo, my mother was an RN who graduated from St. Mary's......I have been to Rochester several times).
I was an RN in my past life for 35 years (married the same amount of time to my one and only husband, Ron).
Our home base is in Nevada, as that is where our grandchildren are.
I love this board, having met so many amazing, intelligent and courageous women; all of whom have given me hope and faith in the future.. _________________ Roxanne
