Hi all,
I feel a bit of a fraud posting. I've had a read through some of the threads here, and I'm not surre I should be here. I had an excision on my face, and also one on my hand done 01/12/06.
The Specialist letter to my GP said 'may be early melanoma'. I had the surgery within day, but as yet, I haven't had the histology back.
The stitches in my face came out yesterday, the ones in my hand are due out 15/12/06.
I'll be honest, I'm a little scared. Yes, I know tht if things turn out to be bad, then at least things have been caught early on. But I can't get away from the fact that I'm 36, a single mum with two great children that don't deserve a mum that is dissolving slowly when they're not around.
Like I said, I feel a bit of a fraud...it may well turn out that both biopsies show nothing more than a harmless mole, but I can't help myself.
I'm sure there must be people here that have gone through this (and had their results turn out whichever way). Hope I'm not coming across as being selfish, I just need a little guidance and help form someone who's been there.
Thanks |

You're certainly not a fraud for expressing your fears, it's important! If more people were open and honest about their fears, it would be a better world with fewer sick and miserable people. Hope your biopsies come back neg!
Regards,

Thanks for the reply Richard. I've calmed down a little now, and am being a little more optimistic. Looking on the bright side, at least I have a little time off to get Christmas prepared!
Not sure when the results will be back - the Doctor said 3 weeks, but the nurse said afterwards that it'd be more likely to be longer than that. Apparently the samples won't have reached the lab until the Monday (04/12).
I'll let you know how I get on. |

Hi Niv
Most biopsy cases - at least nine out of ten turn out to be completely benign. Even early melanoma (melanoma in situ) is 100% curable.
Dont worry and have a wonderful Christmas - you have done everything you can to be proactive with your health, and remember most results come back benign... |
