Hey Ken (and all),

I am now 1 year from my treatments. I don't visit much anymore... I am now 30 (diagnosed at 28, tumor there prob 3 yrs before). I did the 10 pill a day chemo, once a week IV chemo, 5 day a week radiation. I was miserable, but worked the entire time and lived alone. It was no fun, I'm sorry to say, but can be done! I had nearly my entire rectum removed so my surgery was very harsh. I did chemo another six months after that too.
I feel SO much better now. I am getting SO healthy again and such an outdoor activities enthusiast. I was so worried my life would never be the same but I am right back out in the world living it up! I just wanted to pop in because one year ago I was soooooooo discouraged to say the least.... it WILL get better, hopefully sooner than later my friend!

Happy healing,

Allison

Ken,
I too hvae been recently diagnosed with rectal cancer, stage t-3, as you have. I have a PET scan to complete before the treatment begins, however I fell it will be very close to your treatment plan. I will begin chemo with radiation for six weeks, then surgery, follwed by more chemo. I will be watching you carefully as we will be close to the same time table.
If you don't mind, I had a couple of questions:
On staging, you should have an "N" stage behind the "T" stage. (ex. t-3, n-1). Do you know what yours is? It relates the the level of node involvement.
Where is your treatment being conducted?
Has the (any) doctor spoken with you about the final outcome?
When you feel like it, just add a post or you can e-mail if you like at Sarge2133@hotmail.com
Thanks Ken,
God Bless and hang in there!
