In the last few months, I've learned that a dear friend of mine has been battling a rare form of leukemia. Unfortunately, I am unsure of what exactly it is that she's fighting, and I'd like to know more.

She receives blood shots every week that she says are what's keeping her alive. The shots are injected through the stomach by needle, making her very ill for a day or so. If she doesn't receive them, she gets these little blood spots on her arms.

If she gets cut, she bleeds very easily, as well as has nosebleeds fairly often. Sometimes, she can go for days without one and then have three in a row.

She also mentioned that she had to have a bone marrow transplant and was on life support for 13 days when it was at its worst. She also mentioned that she lost her hair, which I'm sure is a side effect of chemotherapy.

Am I making much sense? Help would be greatly appreciated.

if you would like more info about your friends problem email dross at med.miami.edu he is a phd scientist that works on cancer.He can answer your questions. Also if you would like to find out more teh case on your own i recommend http://cancerfoc.us/
