Hi I recently had my 6 month checkup and after many tests and meeting with new cancer specialists my cancer has returned. I was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma a year ago. I remember my doctor saying the mass in my chest was the largest or one of the largest he had ever seen. So I guess since the cure rate was 80% and the mass was so big it shouldnt be a shocker that the cancer is growing back so soon. I really wasnt ready for it , but I guess u are never really ready. So a week from today I have to go away for a few months to do a blood stem cell transplant. It freaks me out cause its a Autologous transplant and its really new. I guess I will be in the hospital for 3 weeks, then depending out for 2 weeks , then back in for 3. Its gonna be a hard few months, but I am relieved its not 6 months of treatments like before. I had such a hard time losing my hair the first time, I really think that was the worste for me. I am not very excited to lose it again , since it is finally gettin a bit long. But I know it grows back and being healthy is most important. I just really hope this transplant gets rid of it for ever or for a very long long time.

That's a great way to look at it, 2months which is only 8 weeks. Take a deep breath and take one step at a time. Prepare yourself. Go out and buy some mags or a new book to keep yourself occupied while you're in there. The time will pass quicker.
Tell me more about yourself, your family, whatever.
I gotta get the kids up for school, Adam 5,and Tommy 2. So good luck on Wed.
Big hug to you!
Dawn

Hi RLene! I hope you are doing well and I wanted to say how courageous you are for sharing your concerns. And you're so right--two months is ultimately a drop in the bucket.
Best wishes,
Richard Day Gore
