Hello all, could anyone help me out? A few months ago, my husband wasn't feeling well, generally tired and finally went to the doctor. AT that time he was told that he had scaring on his liver (although he doesn't drink and is not overweight) with no real answers as to why this might be happening. Last week he was at a new doctors office and noticed a lump on the side of his neck (to which he was told that he probably had a virus and it would go away) and just yesterday noticed another one under his arm. He has been very tired lately and is generally achy. He has an appointment tomorrow at the doctors but tends to take what ever they say as "word" without asking any questions. Can you give me some suggestions regarding questions we should be asking and if anyone thinks we should really be concerned? (probably a silly question, but I'm really beginning to worry) Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hello,
I don't have a clue as to why your husband has scaring of the liver but a simple blood test might reveal if the liver enzymes are elevated. As to the swollen lymph nodes that could be caused by an infection. In fact most doctors will prescribe an antibiotic and sometimes one of a different type if there is no positive reaction to the first. But since you are in the lymphoma forum you must be thinking along these lines. The only sure method of diagnosis is a biopsy of the swollen lymph node. They can do a FNB - fine needle biopsy- or a core needle biopsy. These are both non-
surgical procedures but if the node is too close to the artery they might be hesitant to do this. Hope this helps you somewhat. Good luck.
