my husband (63 years old) was diagnosed recently and had mri that said there was extracapsular extension on right side, and vascular areas were 7mmx12mm and 7mmx8mm, and scattered calculi. Is this considered locally advanced and is surgery an option?

Carolg,

Your doctor will no doubt be armed with a lot more information, but most doctors would not usually suggest surgery with extraprostatic disease.

A good website which has case reports from men who have undertaken various forms of treatment is www.yananow.net. Look in their mentors section.

For example there are lots of guys there who have undertaken radiation and hormonal treatments and who have done well for various periods from months to 13 years.

Regardless of what treatment you choose. most important is your choice of doctor and also lifestyle changes: diet, supplements, exercise.
