My son's father has ALL and had a BMT 8 years ago and has been in remission since. He was diagnosed with ALL late - at 26.

He has had constant complications including:
Respiratory infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa occur almost exclusively in individuals with a compromised lower respiratory tract or a compromised systemic defense mechanism. Primary pneumonia occurs in patients with chronic lung disease and congestive heart failure. Bacteremic pneumonia commonly occurs in neutropenic cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Lower respiratory tract colonization of cystic fibrosis patients by mucoid strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is common and difficult, if not impossible, to treat.
If anyone knows anywhere I can get any info from or search for alternative drugs or new drugs for Pseudomonas Aeruginosa please can you let me know.

He has the upper respiratory tract hairs all gone and his lungs have collapsed twice already. It's a miracle he's still alive.

Love to you all, this is just so hard. My dad died of Leukemia when I was 11 and my and my ex have an 8 year old son. I'm sorry I don't know what else to say.

Many thanks
Amanda
