I have had rectal bleeding and passing mucus (gradually getting worse) for the past three months. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy under GA in 10 days time. I just wish it was happening tomorrow. I dont really have any family left that I can talk to about this.

Don't panic! I had similar problems and was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. But there are many things that can cause the symptoms you've described. Hang in there, and don't panic until you have something to panic about, ok?

Colonoscopy isn't so bad, it's the prep that really sucks. Get a good book and get ready to spend the day on the pot.

Also, cut out as much fiber from your diet as you can in the meantime. Stick with pasta, breads, soft, easy foods, and see if that helps. No red meat, no nuts, no green veg, no seeds or skins on fruit and veg. Hang in there!!

Thanks for your reply. Have had bleeding in the past and nothing detected so am worried that something has been rumbling away since then. This is certainly much worse. I have cut down on my fibre as I realised that in any event too much fibre wasnt helping. I have had a rectal exam and now await colonoscopy. Just want to get it over and done with now.
