I was diagnosed with right breast cancer & had a Mastectomy Jan.6,2006. The maine lymph node was canser free, so they only removed the one. I thought my healing was going good till I went back to dr. the week after & found that all the top skin had died & turned black. Each week she removes a layer of the dead skin & hopefully this week she can get it all off. This has been a set back & is getting on my nerves. Dr. says I will have a huge scar now that she didn't intend to be there...Has anyone else experienced this? Sad & if so, how long did it take for you to completely heal up.

MomG, it is done Very Happy If something like this happens, I can take care of them. I did not notice your original post in the Announcements Forum because, well, there are not usually any replies to the Announcements. Wink

Hope all is well with you.

Hi MomG,

Did the doctor mentioned that it was an infected wound that is being treated now?

Hey Matynne,
No it didn't get infected, just not enough blood flow to the outer skin that the Dr. sewed back up & that caused the top layer to die..It's all healed up now since I am 4 months PO. but I came home in March & had the surgery in Jan. & it wasn't quiet healed up then. Dr thought she was going to have to do a skin graft, but thank God she didn't have too...The scar is much bigger than it was supposed to be but they think in time it will fade.

Hi MomG,

Nice to hear from you.

In case you are concerned about the scar and want it to be removed, consult a dermatologist and discuss about Scar removal creams. Newer patented{ Elicina } ones are very useful and produce good results.Read more here http://www.bioskincare.com/scars/scargel/

Take care.
