| Well Im 16 years old (thats never had sex) and for a while now, I've had a lump in my vagina about an inch or two in and it kinda hurts if I press down on it but since I'm tarafide of anyone looking at me, even the doctor, I havent said anything to him. For the last year or almost a year, Ive been having really bad cramps, kinda like period cramps but all the time and I have been going to the doctor for it. He put me on birth control to help with the pain, but it only seems to be helping with my period cramps (when Im on my period at least) and not the cramps I have all the time. I've also had an ultrasound done of my lower abdomin and it came out clear. I guess my question would be is, how likely is it that this could be cancer, or a tumor or something life thretening? |

It could very well be a cyst, but you need to go in and have it checked out. When I was 15, I found a lump in my breast and I was terrified as well, but I knew the consequences of not going to the doctor could be much greater than my embarassment. It turned out to be a cyst (which is quite common).
Please don't wait on this and have it checked out.

Dear Siver,
It is probably a cyst and a common complaint - I had one a year or so ago. Is the lump there all the time or do you get really bad pain and then it goes away for a while and there is no pain? It needs to be checked so you have to tell the doctor who, believe me, has probably examined thousands of women and thinks absolutely nothing of it. Anyway, at some time in your life, you are going to have a vaginal examination and doctor is going to do PAP smears, so you might as well start now getting used to it! Also tell you doctor about the cramps that you know are not period cramps.
Please let us know how you get on.
Love, Val. |

Dear Silver,
I had the same problem about a year ago and my doctor told me that it was a clogged gland. She told me that if it didn't recess in a week, that she would have to drain it herself. She told me to do warm compresses on the area (not too warm obviously) and that that would help it recess. Luckily, it worked but you definitely should have it checked out. Hope this helps. |
